Contemporary Artist - Mary Lagnaoui
Welcome!
Transforming visions into images on canvas is what prompts Mary to paint and draw. Her paintings explore themes inspired by her observations, imagination, dreams, and memory.
In her continuing study Black Line White Paper, she employs quick strokes of brush or pen to bring forth characters and impressions with emotion and energy.
Her series include The New Society, abstractions of imagined palaces, temples, and cities she created in reds and oranges featuring strong line and angle. Two series, Summer Drummers and Connections, show people from Washington, DC communities in everyday activity like making music, sipping coffee, and reading. Work from her solo show River Trees Sky focus on nature, as palettes of sky, water, and seasons create moods of a forest or river scene.
Mary has shown her paintings and drawings at galleries and exhibitions in the Washington, DC area, including a month-long solo show at Touchstone Gallery, Washington, DC, in June 2023.
